What is Labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty addresses issues relating to the labia minora and labia majora, the flaps of skin surrounding the vaginal opening. Labiaplasty has functional cosmetic benefits. Excessively large labia can cause irritation, discomfort, and pain, especially when engaging in certain activities such as sexual intercourse or exercise. Others may get a labiaplasty to restore a youthful and attractive look after giving birth and aging to reverse the effects.
Suitability
You are an ideal candidate for a labiaplasty if you:
Are at least 18 years old
Have excess skin around your vagina that causes discomfort
Experience irritation while wearing tight clothing
Have sagging labial tissue after giving birth or aging
Are healthy and at a stable weight
Have done your research on the procedure and the possible risks
Recovery
During the first couple of days of your recovery, some swelling and itchiness are normal. Itchiness after labiaplasty is common as the body is working on healing the area. You are advised to stay in bed as walking can be uncomfortable due to the medical dressing. Once the stitches dissolve, the scarring will be less visible and less hard and will eventually be camouflaged between the natural folds and wrinkles of your labia.
Aftercare
As the our health care team, we will ensure that you have gone through all the necessary health checkups before your surgery, and always be there for you during recovery to ensure you feel your best the whole time.
Aftercare is as important as the surgery itself when it comes to boosting the effects of the procedure.
Quitting smoking and drinking during the healing process are recommended, as smoking and alcohol intake might slow down the healing and potentially affect the surgery results.
If necessary, your doctor may prescribe you painkillers.
