What is Vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty is the surgical construction or repair of female genitalia. It can treat many medical issues, such as vaginal trauma and injury due to childbirth and pelvic floor complications due to aging. Vaginoplasty is also used to create a transgender vagina by creating a vaginal canal to help our patients feel more aligned with their preferred gender identity.

A vaginoplasty and other feminizing genital operations can be performed for many medical and aesthetic reasons and your vaginoplasty will be designed by your surgeon specifically for you and your medical as well as cosmetic expectations.

Suitability

You are an ideal candidate for a vaginoplasty if you:

Wish to improve sexual function
Wan to improve vaginal muscles
Experience vaginal discomfort
Need vaginal tightening
Are healthy and at a stable weight
Have done your research on the procedure and the possible risks

Recovery

During the first 2 days, you will be in bed and our care team will monitor you closely. You should avoid sitting for prolonged hours during the first 6 months after the surgery. You should be able to walk around slowly after about a week and after around 6 weeks, you can go back to work. Most patients require at least 12-18 months for a full recovery.

The recovery period can be challenging for most vaginoplasty patients as you should take really good care of yourself. You should drink plenty of water and eat healthy and energizing foods to feel your best during recovery. The healing time varies depending on how well and fast your body heals and how your body responds to anesthesia and the operation. You should avoid lifting heavy or engaging in strenuous activities. Cut down on stress as much as you can, as stress can slow your recovery.

Aftercare

As the our health care team, we will ensure that you have gone through all the necessary health checkups before your surgery, and always be there for you during recovery to ensure you feel your best the whole time.

Aftercare is as important as the surgery itself when it comes to boosting the effects of the procedure.

Quitting smoking and drinking during the healing process are recommended, as smoking and alcohol intake might slow down the healing and potentially affect the surgery results.

If necessary, your doctor may prescribe you painkillers.
